Due to the high cost of tooling for sand covered casting of iron molds and the difficulty of modification. Therefore, the design of this process requires a one-time success. At present, some production enterprises have a high scrap rate of castings due to improper design of process fixtures. In recent years, our institute has completed the computer numerical simulation project of solidification process of iron mold sand covered casting nodular iron parts, which can optimize and compare multiple process schemes. However, due to the difficulty in obtaining accurate thermal property parameters and some simplification processes, there is still a long way to go to achieve meaningful optimization design.
