Characteristics of Chemical Hardening Sand Casting Process

① The strength of chemically hardened sand molds is much higher than that of clay sand molds, and after being made into sand molds, they peel off after hardening to a relatively high strength, without the need for mold modification. Therefore, the mold can accurately reflect the size and contour shape of the pattern, and is not easily deformed in the future process. The castings produced have high dimensional accuracy.

② Due to the low viscosity of the adhesive and hardener used, they are easily mixed with sand particles. The sand mixing equipment has a lightweight structure, low power, and high productivity, and the sand processing work can be simplified.

③ The mixed molding sand has good fluidity before hardening, and the molding sand is easily compacted during molding, so there is no need for a large and complex molding machine.

④ When using chemically hardened sand for molding, mold materials such as wood, plastic, and metal can be selected according to production requirements.

⑤ The content of binder in chemically hardened sand is much lower than that in clay sand, and there is no powdery auxiliary material. If the same particle size of raw sand is used, the gaps between sand particles are much larger than those in clay sand. To avoid metal infiltration between sand particles during casting, the surface of sand molds or cores should be coated with high-quality paint.

⑥ Chemical hardened sand using water glass as a binder has low cost and odorless working environment during use. But after pouring metal into this mold, the molding sand is not easily broken; Used old sand cannot be directly recycled and needs to be treated with regeneration, while the regeneration of water glass sand is relatively difficult.

⑦ The cost of chemically hardened sand using resin as a binder is relatively high, but after casting, the casting is easy to separate from the molding sand, reducing the workload of casting cleaning, and most of the used sand can be recycled and reused.
